Charity help from Bakkavor

More than 850 colleagues joined forces in Holbeach to invest both time and money in Little Miracles, a local charity helping families with children who have additional needs.

The Bakkavor Pizza team in the town chose Little Miracles to be its charity of the year. Staff have taken part in a number of projects to support the work of the charity and donated a total of £4,600.
An intrepid team took part in a charity sky dive and raised £2,703 for the charity and a further £1,703 was match-funded by the company. Bakkavor also sponsored the charity branch’s window in Holbeach for £246.
Colleagues also supported the charity’s South Holland Charity Family Fun Day and an additional fundraiser on-site at Bakkavor Pizza where money was collected to fund new flooring and a make-over for the ceiling of the charity’s premises. There were also food donations and a toy collection.
“We are really proud of our colleagues’ support for Little Miracles over the last year, an organisation that does such important work in the community. Many of our colleagues have also directly benefited from the work of the charity,” said Adam Freeman, general manager of operations at Bakkavor Pizza.
“If you add up the time and money committed, our colleagues have done the local community proud – and in the coming weeks it will start all over again as a new local charity is adopted as our charity of the year,” he added.
The company also supported International Women’s Day on Friday when the site wore purple to stand in solidarity for equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
It joined with the industry’s Grocer Magazine to celebrate women in own-label food.
Sadie Woodhouse, of Spalding, is the only representative from the food manufacturing sector to make the list. She is the general manager of Bakkavor Spalding and has worked with the company in various roles in the USA and this country.
In Holbeach, the Bakkavor Pizza site is launching an apprentice programme and hosting networking days to inspire women to pursue careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) field.
