Celebrating charity workers

Hundreds of people across South Holland give up their time to work for a host of good causes.

The Pride of South Holland Awards is the perfect place to get them the recognition they deserve.

The Charity Worker award recognises those people/groups who either dedicate their time to charity work, by fundraising or volunteering, some of whom may be working as a team and not seeking recognition.

It’s sponsored by councillors Jo Reynolds and Jack Tyrrell.

This will be the second year Jack has supported this event.

“I’m pleased to be supporting the Charity Worker Award as it is close to my heart,” he said. “I have started two charities over the past five years, the Long Sutton Men’s Shed and most recently, the first of its kind, a Youth Shed, bringing the older retired gentlemen and women together to guide young children between the age of 11 to 15, helping to teach them life skills and to help guide them into a trade.

“From my own experience, I know it helps to put a smile on someone’s face and will help them think about a trade for their future.”

Coun Jo Reynolds said she was passionate about being part of this ceremony.

“Charity work is similar to what we do as a councillor,” she said. “We go out of our way to help people in our community.

“I became a councillor to help people and to try and make a difference.

“I have known Jack for more than 30 years, I got involved in supporting the Men’s Shed and more recently, I am a big supporter of the Youth Shed.

“When Jack told me he was going to do the Pride Awards I felt it was something I wanted to do.

“It is great to be teaming up and supporting both Jack and organiser Jan Whitbourn.

“I wanted to support this category as I felt it is good to see kind and caring people get recognition for their acts of kindness and seeing the support they give to people in their community.”

The Pride of South Holland Awards are back to celebrate all that is good in the district.

On Sunday, March 5, 2023, the organiser, Jan Whitbourn will be handing out recognition to many of those who make the district what it is.

But we need to know who those people are.

There’s a host of categories for you to send your nominations to Jan on 07779 895388, email jan@tulip-events.co.uk or email richard@spaldingvoice.co.uk

Send us as much information about your nominees as you can.

The more we know about their good work in the community the more likely they are to receive a nomination or even win one of the prestigious awards.
