Cash is waiting for good causes

Spalding Round Table is launching a push to grant thousands of pounds to local good causes – and wants applications.

The men’s organisation fundraises through events such as Spalding Festival, which returns for its fifth year in May, and the 90s Night held at Springfields Events Centre last October.

However, since the Covid pandemic fewer applications for support have been received.

Now the charitable organisation is encouraging good causes in Spalding and the surrounding area to come forward with proposals for grant funding.

Ways and means officer Arron Chappell said: “We’ve got a good amount of money ready and waiting.
“That money has been raised here in the local community and our wish is to use it to help the local community.

“Big or small, we’re really keen to hear about ideas and projects which need funding.

“We’ve supported projects for several thousands of pounds. If it’s a local, good cause and a worthy proposal then we’ll do our best to support it.”

In the past, funding has been supplied for a new vehicle for a support centre, a powered wheelchair for a disabled youngster and to help kit out new premises for a charity which supports children with additional needs.

Smaller funding grants bought a bath to make someone’s life easier and paid for a meal out for a group which supports people with mental health issues.

To make an application for funding, send a message to Spalding Round Table via its Facebook page.
