Bourne tussle at the top continues

Bourne SC A have regained the top spot in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League after a 6-0 victory over Holbeach C.

The highlight of the match was Mark Gray’s (O105) win over Paul Ashton (R14).
Giving 129 start, Gray won 143-130, knocking in breaks of 51 and 37 along the way.
Other winners on the night were Ian Gibson (R7), Max Ayliff (O21), Michael Byrne (R7) and Oliver Player (O28), who got a 20 break.
Bourne SC C dropped to second, despite a 4-2 win away to Holbeach A.
George Neary-Phillips (O21), Sean Jeynes (O14) and Chris Page (O7) got the wins for Bourne, while Sean Swinburn (O49) and Mathew Smith (O28) won for Holbeach.
It was a good week for Bourne SC as the B team won as well.
They beat Holbeach D 4-2, Elliot Gaunt (O28) starring with breaks of 20 and a 40 clearance. He beat Paul Daw (O28) 103-14. Other winners for Bourne were Liam Ennis (O35) and Kieran Richards-Witham (O21).
Bottom-of-the-league Pyramid D pulled off a surprise win, beating third-placed Services C 4-2.
Marcus Hamilton (O28), James Sharpe (O42) and Reegan Cooke-Holmes (O7) got the points for Pyramid.
Pyramid A got a good win too, besting fourth placed Services A.
Pyramid, who are third-from-bottom, won 4-2 thanks to victories from Michael Twell (R7), Matthew Chapman (O7) and Dean Cole (O14).
Continuing a good week for the Bourne teams, Pyramid C won 4-2 away at Donington C.
Donington took the first two frames, courtesy of Shaun Pickering (R14) and Ben Wrigglesworth (O28), before Jason Green (O56), Richard Skellett (O14) and Alfonso Palumbo (O42) hit back for Pyramid.
In Division Two, Consti G are holding on to first place, despite losing 5-1 away to Gosberton A.
Darren Woodberry (O42) was the only winner for Consti, snatching the frame from Adam Twigg (O14) on the black.
Carl Wand (O7), Andy Adair (scr), Geoff Wand (R14) and Alan Jackson (O7) won for Gosberton.
Holbeach E move up to second after beating Services E 4-2.
Pete Ransome (O28), Chris Back (O42) and Ben Harding (O28) got the frames for Holbeach.
The win see them leapfrog clubmates Holbeach B who went down 5-1 at home to Donington A.
Donington’s star player was 89-year-old John George (scr) who thrashed Barry Haynes (O7) in a game played in excellent spirits.
After a good start to the season Holbeach F have fallen down the table and a 4-2 loss to bottom-of-the-league Consti I, sees them in eighth place.
Consti’s winners were Pete Stokes (R7), John Bellerby (R7) and Richard Geddes (R21) who took the decider against Alex Bourne (O21).
Services D drop to sixth after a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Consti F.
It’s as you were for Consti B and Services B who both hold their league positions after a 4-2 win for Consti.
John Christian (R7), John Keeton (O7) and Martin Fear (O7) got the points for Consti.
Gosberton D and Whittlesey C remain in first and second respectively in Division Three, after both secured 4-2 wins.
Gosberton beat Consti C away, while Whittlesey C got the better of Pyramid E.
Third-placed Donington B beat Consti A 5-1, while fourth placed Consti J had a 4-2 away win over Boundary B.
Whittlesey B beat Gosberton C 4-2 away.
Winners were Michael Foster (O21), John Skutela (R14) and Pawel Skutela (R7).
Malc Dennis (R7) and Stuart Henderson (scr) won for Gosberton.
