Darren Jarvis reckons fifth-placed Holbeach United are firmly on-course to achieve their goals for the season.
The Tigers could only draw 0-0 at lowly Eynesbury Rovers on Saturday, but remain one of the frontrunners in the title race having not lost in the UCL Premier Division since the opening day of the campaign.
Having won 3-0 at 20th-placed Harrowby United on Wednesday night, high-flying Holbeach now welcome lowly Wellingborough Town to Carter’s Park on Saturday (3pm).
Before the trip to Harrowby, Jarvis was hoping to bag a six-point haul from the games against struggling opponents in a bid to crank up the pressure on the sides above.
He said: “If we can get six points from Harrowby and Wellingborough, we’ll be right back up there.
“But we shouldn’t forget that, if we win our games in hand, we’d be second.
“I know this club demands to be – at least – in the top six, but I expect us to be in the top four.
“If we’re in the top four or five by Christmas, then we’ll be very much in the race for the title.
“That was the aim at the start of the season and I do feel we’re still very much on track to achieve our goals.”
Wellingborough recently changed their manager for the third time this season, with Dave Williams the new man in the hot-seat.
He replaced Craig Adams, who himself took over from Jamie Wright just a few weeks earlier.
Williams made a winning start to life in charge of The Doughboys on Saturday, as his side saw off Northampton Sileby Rangers 2-1 – but they then slipped to a 1-0 loss at basement boys Huntingdon Town on Wednesday.
Tigers chief Jarvis wasn’t surprised by the result on Saturday, as he feels Wellingborough are much better than their 21st position suggests.
“There’s been a lot of change at Wellingborough recently,” added the Holbeach boss. “They’ve just got a new manager in and they will be looking to make a point.
“I’m not convinced they should be so low in the table, they have some very good players. It’s a game we’ll need to impose ourselves in. I want to see us creating and taking chances.”
Skipper Jamie Stevens played 70 minutes at Harrowby and is expected to start again on Saturday.
