Nick Bishop netted ten minutes into added time as Pinchbeck United continued their charge towards the ChromaSport UCL Division One title with a 3-2 victory at Olney Town on Saturday.

The table-topping Knights, who haven’t lost since the reverse fixture back in September, came from 1-0 down at the Recreation Ground to grab perhaps their most dramatic win of the season so far.

Hosts Olney took a 12th-minute lead, but a Liam Ogden leveller on 32 minutes to made it 1-1 at half-time.

Top scorer Ollie Maltby gave Pinchbeck the lead for the first time with a penalty 18 minutes from time, only for Olney to hit back again with a leveller on 80 minutes.

It looked like they’d have to settle for a point, but captain Bishop rose to the occasion in the 100th minute to maintain Pinchbeck’s seven-point lead at the top.

Amazingly, the second half lasted 59 minutes – so they still had to defend for a few more moments to secure what player/boss Ian Dunn felt was a deserved victory.

He said: “I think Olney looked like a team that wanted to beat the league leaders – and we looked like a team that hadn’t played in two weeks.

“It was a good game. We didn’t settle well and they got a deserved goal.

“But they then sat off us and let Aaron Eyett, Tyler Wright and Liam Ogden get on the ball.

“We set up to be a bit more attacking and, once we got the equaliser, it felt like we were the only side who would win the game. So it paid off.

“They did get that equaliser and, I have to be honest, we were a bit bemused by their management celebrating in our technical area.

“It was a bit disappointing and, if I’m honest, a little odd.

“But we remembered it and, when Bish got that late winner, we gave them a taste of their own medicine.

“It was an amazing win. We could have gone there and won 4-0 and not felt as good.

“If you could bottle that feeling of winning a football game so late like that, you’d be a millionaire!

“The celebrations were great afterwards and it felt like an important win.

“We’ll just keep on ticking these wins off and make it hard for those below to catch us.”
