Big launch for naked calendar

A Sutton Bridge cafe owner is hoping to raise more than £10,000 with a special charity calendar.

Pippa Jones, who runs Pippa’s Pantry on Bridge Street, has been working on the project in memory of her later father David Burrows.

He died aged 73 seven years ago as a result of the condition.

His daughter was inspired by the film the Calendar Girls and her idea became a community effort.

A special documentary has been filmed by Two Magpies Media and it was premiered at a special event held at the village’s Curlew Centre last weekend.

The launch of the calendar, featuring friends and supporters in the buff, with strategic placement of props, was well received and Pippa said the whole event had been amazing.

The documentary film left barely a dry eye in the house and Pippa said she was delighted with the response.

The film will be broadcast on YouTube from 8pm on Thursday and a link can be found via Pippa’s Pantry Facebook page or search “The Pantry Prostate Calendar Film Part 1” on YouTube.

The Pantry had been the inspiration for all the pictures and there are 1,000 available at £10 each from the first run.

Along with partners and sponsors, the entire project is set to raise £15,000 for the charity close to Pippa’s heart.

“The night was incredible, the thank yous I owe to people who all went over and beyond to make the calendar happen,” said Pippa.

“Jade Robinson was my right hand, she offered to do everyone’s make-up for the shoot but ended-up doing so much more. Along with Two Magpies Media and Steele Media, we could never have done it without the help and sponsorship,” said Pippa.

The calendar is available from the Pantry and other venues will be added.
