Balding’s superb 77 break in cup

Shane Balding has seen his team through to the semi-final of the Spalding and District Snooker League’s Norey Cup competition with a fantastic 77 break.

Sutton Bridge got the better of Bourne SC A with Balding winning the deciding frame against Oliver Player.
Bourne’s Max Ayliff took two frames from Glenn Ryan, while Thomas Horspool and Pete Hodgson-Kerry shared the spoils of their two frames.
Balding beat Player 2-0 to take the match to a decider, which he also won.
He now holds the highest break in the competition.
In Division One of the league, Bourne SC A’s match against Pyramid D was cancelled, allowing clubmates Bourne SC C to take the top spot.
In an all-Bourne affair, they beat Pyramid A 5-1, putting them three points clear at the top.
Chris Page (O7), George Neary-Phillips (O21), James Kingston (O28) and Adam Braybrook (O7) were winners on the night.
Michael Twell (O7) was the solitary winner for Pyramid, beating Sean Jeynes (O14) on the black.
Services C are holding onto third place, despite losing 4-2 away to Sutton Bridge.
Carl Parnell (O28), Wayne Howard (O14) and Shane Balding (O56) got the frames for Bridge.
Geoff Hemsil (R21) and Jordan Philpott (R14) won for Services.
Donington C got the better of Holbeach C, winning 5-1.
Lee Hempsall (O14), Mick Pearl (O21), Ben Wrigglesworth (O28) and Shaun Pickering (R14) were the winners for Donington, while Paul Ashton (R14) got the frame for Holbeach.
Consti E jumped from seventh up to fourth thanks to a 4-2 away win at Services A.
Black ball wins for Martin Anderson (O7) twice and Nathan Wilson (O21) saw Consti to the win.
Consti G are holding onto the top spot in Division Two.
They beat Services D 4-2 thanks to victories from Martin Deacon (O7), and Joe Garland (scr) and Mark Wilkinson (O14).
Jake Haslam (O7), who currently has the most wins in Division Two, and Adi Liquorish (R14), got the points for Services.
Holbeach E retain second place thanks to a 4-2 win at home to Consti H, while Consti B move into third after a 4-2 win over friendly foes Consti I.
Both games saw re-spot blacks with Stewart Wells (R14) getting the better of John Christian (R7) and Ben Harding (O28) beating Olly Turner (O14).
Holbeach B drop to fourth following a free week.
Gosberton A have jumped three places to tenth after beating Services B 5-1.
Alan Hansard (scr) was the only winner for Services, beating Alan Jackson (O7) with a 22 clearance.
Down in Division Three, the top four teams have held their positions.
Gosberton D are still at the top following a 4-2 home win over Boundary B.
Wins from Dan Hanger (R7), Deac Hempsall (R7) and Paulo Gensiorkys (O7) secured the victory.
In second place are Whittlesey C who beat Gosberton C 4-2. Neil Burton (O21), Jason Bloomfield (O14) and Garry Thewliss (R7) got the wins, with a great 35 break from Bloomfield.
Donington B are in third, after a 4-2 away win at Consti J, who remain in fourth.
Clubmates Whittlesey A took on Whittlesey B with the A team coming out on top.
They had a 5-1 victory thanks to Andy Gebbie (R21), Graeme Sawyer (O14), Malc Bruce (scr) and Steve Jennings (O21).
