Another good year for Lincolnshire’s GCSE students

Early indications of GCSE results across Lincolnshire show continued improvements this year.

With six schools still to return data, provisional figures released by Lincolnshire schools, including academies, indicate that the overall result for the national key GCSE indicator of 5+A*-C (including English and maths) has increased this year to 58.6 per cent.
The percentage of students attaining 5+ A*-C including GCSE results across Lincolnshire show continued improvements English and maths has increased by 3.8 per cent on last year.
Three schools have reported huge improvements of ten per cent or more on their results from last year in 5+A*-C grades (including English and maths).
The percentage of students attaining an A*-C grade in English and maths has also increased by three per cent to 59.9 per cent compared to 56.9 per cent last year.
The percentage of students achieving 5+ A*-A grades in Lincolnshire’s grammar schools is currently showing as 50.3 per cent for 2015, which is an increase of 1.4 per cent on last year.
A total of 14 schools achieved in excess of 90 per cent of students earning 5+ A*-C including English and maths.
Coun Patricia Bradwell, Executive Councillor for Children’s Services at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This level of success is an indication of commitment of young people, teachers, parents and carers across the county and my congratulations go to all of the students on their success.
“In particular, the percentage of students achieving the English Baccalaureate at 30.1 per cent is a significant improvement.”
The government has been keen to emphasise the importance of as many students as possible achieving A*-C grades in a broad range of academic subjects.
The percentage of students achieving the English Baccalaureate across Lincolnshire is currently showing as 30.1 per cent for 2015 compared to 26.7 per cent last year – an increase of 3.4 per cent.

“Our students have done incredibly well to maintain such excellent standards.
