Act II Shakes it up at the double

There’s plenty of love for Shakespeare coming up at the South Holland Centre with Act II Theatre Company set to put on a Bard double bill.

First up, on Tuesday, November 22, there will be a production of Twelfth Night from 6.30pm.

That’s followed up on Thursday and Friday, November 24 and 25 with a production of Shakespeare In Love from 7.30pm.

Twelfth Night includes performances from Act II’s Pint Sized Players and choir.

A spokesman said: “It’s shaping up into something really special.”

“If music be the food of love, play on,” a South Holland Centre spokesman said. “Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy of shipwrecked twins Viola and Sebastian is brought to sparkling life by Act II’s young performers.

“Mistaken identity and the madness of love is set to a soundtrack of modern music breathing new life into the mysterious land of Illyria.

“This production is a companion piece to Act II’s production of “Shakespeare in Love” which is being performed in the same week.

“Based on the hit 1998 film of the same name, this is a specially created stage version by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot). It’s 1593 and William Shakespeare has a problem.

“He is broke, his rival writer Kit Marlowe is way more successful and he can’t finish his new play, “Romeo and Ethel the Pirate’s Daughter”.

“Inspiration comes from a most unlikely source.”

Tickets for both Twelfth Night and Shakespeare In Love are £12, £10 concessions or £9 each for bookings of more than 10.

There is a discount on tickets though for anyone who books for both shows in the same transaction.
