6-a-side league: Parker strike seals promotion place with seconds to spare

A last-gasp goal from Liam Parker sent Evolution up from Division Two on a rollercoaster final night of the season in The Spalding and South Holland Voice Six-A-Side League.

Sarah’s Boys and Evolution went into their games against Le Saux Solid Crew and BK’s Athletic respectively as the only two sides who could join Simple FC in Division One next season.

An early goal for Le Saux Solid Crew gave the advantage to Evolution.
A solid attacking performance followed by Sarah’s Boys, but Le Saux Solid Crew scored again on the break.
Evolution stepped up their attacking play and, having kicked off about three minutes later than Sarah’s Boys, had some time on their side.

Parker was the hero as they snatched a late 1-0 win to go up on goal difference.
Danny Andrew took the plaudits for man of the match (MOTM), Jordan Graham stealing it for Le Saux Solid Crew in their match.

A sour-tasting game ended in a surprise 2-1 defeat for Goaldiggers by Balotellitubbies. The dismissal of Goaldiggers’ George Smith for foul and abusive language handed the advantage to Balotellitubbies, whose playmaker Kerren Hackey was MOTM.

Champions Simple FC had nothing but pride at stake in their final game against Tekkerslovakia. Simple lived up to the script though and finished well with a 5-0 thumping. Jack Issitt, clearly one of the most improved on the league, in inspired form to grab man of the match.
Mail Carters compounded the misery for wooden spoon winners Hardly Athletic with a 5-1 win, just their fourth of the season. Carters’ centre-back Lee Copland picked up his first MOTM of the season for a tireless performance.

In the top tier champions Polishborough secured the honour of completing the season unbeaten.
Polishborough set themselves up to represent Spalding on the national stage with a fantastic 6-0 win over Mirror Signal Malouda to close the curtain on an unbeaten campaign. They finish the season with a positive 89 goal difference after an incredible 107 goals scored – an amazing average of nearly five goals per game!
Polishborough now go on to the national six-a-side tournament in Birmingham on June 20.

A last minute winner for Pro Ballers saw them beat You’ve Got No Fans 3-2 and snatch second spot in the process. They qualify for the national tournament after finishing runners-up. Nobody would have predicted such a lofty finish for the boys in black and this performance summed up their never-say-die season.
Declan Earth snatched MOTM to level with Polishborough’s Krzysiek Goldyn, both managing six over the season.

Relegated Bowlcut Wanderers FC finished their season with a heavy 10-1 defeat to Univeg Team. Dawid Iwaniec picked up man of the match, his fifth of the season.

Pinchbeck United wrapped up their mixed campaign with a 12-1 rout against the departing The Future FC, with Marcus Parry singled out as the main difference by referee Richard Wilde.

Posh Old Boys are straight back into division two after suffering last-day heartbreak. They needed a win to secure safety in the top tier but failed to provide a real challenge as they went down 7-1 to the unforgiving Notinmymums Forest.
