Second-half fightback earns Spalding United a deserved Dynamo draw

Spalding United produced an impressive second-half comeback to net a 2-2 draw at Loughborough Dynamo in Evo-Stik NPL Division One South on Saturday.

The play-off chasing Tulips trailed 2-0 at half time against a Dynamo side that started the day in the bottom two after two Kevin Hemagou strikes (10 and 19).

It was far from game over, however, with a stunning long-range Adam Jackson effort (67) hauling Spalding back into the game before Jamie Graham’s leveller 15 minutes from time.

However, Marcus Ebdon’s side were indebted to a stunning last-gasp save from keeper Michael Duggan, who denied Alfie Taylor from point-blank range.

The draw extends Spalding’s unbeaten run to three games, but sees them slip a further place down the table to seventh.

Elsewhere, Holbeach United were again left without a match as their much-hyped trip to ChromaSport UCL Premier Division title rivals Kempston Rovers was rained off.

In the ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division, relentless leaders Moulton Harrox romped to an 8-0 home win over lowly Leverington Sports to extend their unbeaten league run to 17 games.

Goals from Ian Bradbury (2), Ollie Maltby (2), Jonny Clay, Guy Mantle, Bobby Patterson and Joe Townsend made it 16 wins from 17 top flight matches – and extended their lead to six points.

Meanwhile, Tydd St Mary will face Spalding Town in the Spalding Inter Services Trophy final after both win derby dates in the last four.

Darren Rawthorn and Nick Reims netted for Tydd as they shocked hosts Long Sutton 2-0, while Markus Parry’s goal earned Town a fine 1-0 triumph at nine-man Bridge.

Barry Osborn (two yellows) and Kieren Lally (straight red) were sent off for Sutton Bridge.
