Rampant Spalding Town under-13s achieved their first win of the season by demolishing South Holland neighbours Long Sutton.

Batting first, Spalding captain Paddy Harrington and Jon Manton started carefully but were able to score more freely when the bowlers overpitched.

Manton (13) was caught lofting a drive on the off side but Harrington proceeded to the retirement score, hitting 32 including three sixes.

Although Ethan Lawrence was given out LBW for a duck, Ed Lanning (14) and Reif Clarke (11) continued the good work – adding 39 in eight overs.

Matt Wilshire (3), Cameron McGeown (6) and Brandon Andrews (0) perished in the search for quick runs, but Tom Wide added a quick-fire 13 not out to help the home side reach 124 in their 20 overs.

Opening the bowling, Harrington got the first wicket with the aid of an excellent low catch by Wide at point (the first of three catches by the same fielder).

Harrington struck again in his second over with the catch taken at mid-off by Nick Carter, leaving Sutton in all sorts of trouble.

All seven bowlers used by Spalding bowled well, with Carter (3-2), Harrington (2-4), Jack Sawyer (2-5) and Wide (2-1) getting the best figures, as Sutton were blown away out for just 26.

Beth Milnes (7) top scored for the away side.
