Pinchbeck United chasing ambitious swoop for attacking duo King and Oliver

Ambitious Pinchbeck United are in the market for two high-profile attackers as they bid to bolster their hopes of challenging for the Future Lions UCL Premier Division title.

The Knights have made a seven-day approach for prolific Grantham Town frontman Ryan Oliver, while they’ve also held talks with Gary King following his departure from Spalding United.

Player/boss Ian Dunn, who has always said he’ll look to add quality to the squad if he can, feels that his side need some extra firepower.

He said: “Barring the (6-0) defeat at Daventry, we’ve been very solid at the back.

“I think we are short in attack – and both Ryan and Gary would improve the squad. We’ll have to see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Dunn feels that Pinchbeck are equipped to win one of the toughest fixtures in the UCL Premier Division this weekend.

TARGET: Ryan Oliver, in his Spalding United days.

The second-placed Knights make the trip to Newport Pagnell on Saturday (3pm) as they bid to make it three league wins on the spin.

Having recovered from their damaging 6-0 defeat at table-topping Daventry Town superbly well, player/boss Dunn is confident that his side can pick up a result.

He added: “Going to Pagnell is always a tough game. You can’t just go there and expect to win, you really have to work for it.

“They’ve been inconsistent this season, but you can never write them off. We need to apply ourselves correctly to win.

“We didn’t turn up at Daventry and paid for it. There’s a way to lose and that wasn’t it. Hopefully that’s behind us now.”

The Knights will be without Jack Smith and Jason Field at Willen Road.
