PDFL round-up: Tigers Reserves maul Magpies, unbeaten Harrox tame Tydd to stay clear

Holbeach United Reserves roared to a dominant 6-0 derby victory over Long Sutton Athletic in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division on Saturday.

Phil Barnes’ side completed the double over their South Holland neighbours thanks to strikes from Jonny Allen, Steve Barnes, Gary Chappell, Kieron McConnell, Liam Mead and an own goal.

The Tigers’ second string are now third in the table, 13 points behind table-toppers Moulton Harrox – who won a derby clash of their own.

Unbeaten Moulton beat Tydd 2-0 at Broad Lane to make it 14 wins from 15 matches.

Defender Ash Coddington and left-sider Danny Maddison netted for Kev Nottingham’s side, who are 11 points clear at the top.

Elsewhere in the top tier, Whittlesey Athletic handed Sutton Bridge a 3-0 defeat at Feldale Field to end their run of three wins on the spin.

In Division One, a hat-trick from Ben Nottingham couldn’t stop Moulton Harrox Reserves losing 5-3 at Oundle Town.

It was a better day for Spalding Town, however, as they smashed Old Dons 10-1 in the Spalding Inter-Services Cup to progress to the semi-finals. Their goals came from Ben Allen (2), Ash Wilson (2), Jack Wycherley (2), Tom Coote, Ricky Dickinson, Danny Kingman and Alex Lyon.

Crowland Town also progressed to the last four of that competition after beating Spalding Harriers 5-4 on penalties.

It was 3-3 after extra time, with Ashton Capes, Joseph Fletcher and Matt Rostron their scorers.

Long Sutton Athletic Reserves also cruised into the semis after walloping Spalding Athletic 7-0.

Mark Garner (2), Marcus Gilbertson, Lewis Machin, Shane Millar, Jamie Taylor and Sam Thompson were the goal-getters.

Holbeach Bank complete the final four after a 2-0 victory at Tydd Reserves.

Back in PDFL Division Two, Whaplode Drove battled out a 5-5 draw at Warboys Town. Lee Jackson (2), Jamie Lee Steward, Joe Strickland and Adam Samworth netted in that one.
