PDFL round-up: Leaders Polonia slayed by champions Moulton Harrox Reserves

Champions Moulton Harrox Reserves returned to the top of the ChromaSport PDFL Division One table with a 3-1 victory over previous leaders Peterborough Polonia on Saturday.

A double from Martin Sandall and a Keith England strike steered Kev Nottingham’s charges to all three points at Broad Lane, despite a Rafal Kowalksi effort.

That result leaves Harrox two points clear at the summit – and allowed third-placed Long Sutton Athletic to move within five points of Polonia (with a game in hand) after their 5-0 success at Kings Cliffe.

Tom Gosling, Liam O’Connor, Matty Oliver, Billy Oliver and Lewis Adan Jay bagged for Omar Joof’s Magpies.

Also hitting five were Tydd St Mary, who saw off Netherton United Reserves 5-2 at Memorial Park.

Eddie Pentney (3) and top scorer Jake Clitheroe (2) inspired that win.

That theme continued with Crowland Town, who crushed hosts Ramsey Town 5-2.

Up in the Premier Division, leaders Moulton Harrox walloped rock-bottom Langtoft United 6-0 as Danny Lambe-Hyner helped himself to a fantastic five goals.

Harrox are now five points clear of defending champions Peterborough Sports Reserves with a game in hand.

In-form Holbeach United Reserves were also on-song as they hammered Leverington Sports 5-0 at Carter’s Park.

Jonny Allen, Steve Barnes, Gary Chappell, Kieran Hamilton and Scott Powley got the goals.

Sutton Bridge United, meanwhile, saw off Whittlesey Athletic 3-2 at Memorial Park to go sixth.

Matt Eaton (2) and Rob Hook fired Bridge to their seventh win of the season.

Down in Division Two, Spalding United Reserves lost 2-0 at Netherton United A and Spalding Town slumped 1-0 at home to Ketton Reserves.

In Division Three, Whaplode Drove continue to be the great entertainers – but they lost 4-3 at home to Feeder.

Elsewhere, goals from Ryan Brothwell and Jeremy King earned Long Sutton Reserves a 2-2 draw with Whittlesey B in Division Four.

Tydd St Mary Reserves, however, went down 7-0 at Stamford Lions A, while Holbeach United A were humbled 5-0 at home by AFC Orton.
