Money in memory of Alex

More than £1,500 was roped in for charity in memory of a friend at Spalding’s Elizabethan Centre recently.

A country and western afternoon was held by the centre’s social club in memory of Alex Ford who passed away aged 73 after suffering with Motor Neurone Disease.

Acts Tennessee Stud and Dale Diamond entertained the 150 people at the event organised by Alex’s friends David Barfoot and Jack Fennellow.

They raised £1,540 for the Cambridgeshire branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

“We just wanted to do something in memory of Alex as he was a lovely, jolly fellow who came to a number of our events,” said David, the vice chair of the Elizabethan Centre Social Committee.
