LETTERS – Consider mast danger

Most people in the Holbeach area will be aware that the Holbeach Football clubhouse is undergoing a major refit.

The initial part of this re-fit resulted in four mature healthy trees being removed, despite these trees being a condition of planning approval for the erection of a low level phone mast near the entrance to the club.

It would be interesting to know who in South Holland District Council’s planning department gave permission for these four trees to be vandalised.

Many medical and scientific people believe these low level masts pose a very high risk of health problems and should be avoided at all costs.

Of course the phone people will say they are perfectly safe and are not a risk, just as the cladding and council experts said about Grenfell.

The rise of people suffering mental health problems has coincided with rise in the use of mobile phones, it cannot be just a coincidence, it is a fact. People from all walks of life are reporting mental health difficulties but all have one thing in common – they all have one thing in common they all have and use mobile phones.

Anyone using the Holbeach club should carefully consider whether they want to risk their health and wellbeing with a mast so close to the general public area.

Parents of children going to the academy and using the sports field should consider the risks in doing so.

The club, of course, will state the mast poses no risk as I am sure they receive a payment to site the low level installation. That would be a natural reaction as is everything where payments are received.

With the amount of work that has gone into the refurbishment the clubhouse will be a comfortable place to visit as long as you are prepared to take a risk with the mast, it’s a choice each person can only make themselves.
