It’s Childs play for Crowland B in win

Rob Childs was in super form for Crowland B recording a 117 and 78 unfinished break in their 7-0 demolition of Crowland C in the Spalding and District Billiards League.

On top of those Childs (-250) also recorded breaks of 56, 46, 37 and 29 in his 200-86 win over Neil Burton (R60).

The plus 60 handicap pair of Paul Holland and Allan Sharman then also picked up wins for the B team beating R80s Richard Wesley and Richard Walker, 200-134 and 200-160 respectively.

It launched Crowland B into third place in the table behind the Holbeach sides.

Holbeach A strengthened their position at the top of the league as they picked up five points in their match at Gosberton B.

In a close opener between two R90 handicappers Holbeach’s James Glover won out over James Mumby by eight points.

Breaks of 24 and 29 from Gosberton’s Shane White (O20) helped him beat Ben Harding (R50) 200-149, but Colin Dodd won it for Holbeach with three breaks of over 20, one of which was unfinished in a 200-119 victory over James Waterfall.

Gosberton B claimed two points from the match and are sixth in the table.

Second placed Holbeach B lost ground on the league leaders as they were defeated 5-2 by the second from bottom side Gosberton A.
Holbeach A are now 8.5 points ahead of their clubmates.

It was Gosberton A’s third win of the season and lifts them on to 22 points, still 11 behind third from bottom Pyramid A.

Basement side Long Sutton also picked up their third win of the season and five points with a victory over previously third placed Donington.

Despite a break of 33 by Donington’s Ben Wrigglesworth (R50), John Dawson (R30) took the opener for Long Sutton 200-140.

Mick Cooper (R30) put together several excellent breaks to extend their lead, including ones of 41 and 39.
He beat NeIl Reynolds (O20) 200-110.

John Thompson won the final game in Donington’s favour, a break of 26 helping him to a 200-151 win over Dave Puncheon (R90).

Consti B enjoyed a 7-0 clean sweep over Pyramid A.

Jason Rose (R40) led the way beating John Clapton (R90).

Mick Johnson (-180) was in fine form with seven breaks over 20, two of which topped out at 46. He beat Eric Wyer (R80) 200-118.

Steve Spencer (R100) rounded things off by defeating John Twell (R60 200-147.

Pyramid B picked up four points to Consti A’s three as the two sides met in Bourne.

The home side won the first two games, Maurice Phillipson (R60) with a break of 29 while beating John Bellerby (R90) 200-160 and

Darrell Read (R30) winning against Stewart Davies (R30) 200-156 despite the latter’s brake of 20.

Consti A’s Alan Hansard (R80) won the final game 200-100 against Martin O’Connor (R20) to give the visitors a higher score overall on the night, 516-500.
