The Voice of Spalding and South Holland
Spalding’s iconic flower parade may well be a thing of the past – for now at least – but you can still count on South Holland’s churches to make the district bloom at this time of year.
As always scores of volunteers from Spalding to Sutton Bridge and Whaplode to Weston Hills will be decking their churches out in a rainbow of glorious colours for the traditional flower festivals.
And with more than 30 taking part, there is sure to be a church near you that is worth a visit.
Many of them started last weekend and will continue for a few days at least so you are bound to be able to find a spare hour or so to enjoy the beautiful spring displays.
Some of the flower festivals you can enjoy now are:
SPALDING: St Mary and St Nicolas Church; In Memoriam theme, until Tuesday, May 6.
St Paul’s Church, Fulney, Musicals theme, from today to Monday.
Spalding United Reformed Church, Festival of Celebrations theme, today until Monday.
The Lighthouse Church, tomorrow to Sunday.
WEST PINCHBECK: St Bartholomew’s Church, Festival of Flowers, until Monday.
SURFLEET: St Laurence Church, All That Glitters theme, until Monday.
PINCHBECK: St Mary’s Church, Preachers, Potters and Poets – earning a living in bible times, until Monday.
FLEET: St Mary Magdalene Church, tomorrow until Monday.
