More than 350 Spalding students got their gladrags on for the town’s combined schools’ prom on Friday night.

Held at Springfields Events Centre, the theme for this year was Casino and Year 11 pupils from the High School, Grammar School and Sir John Gleed School got together to say goodbye to their friends before moving on in their education or career.

As usual students arrived in all kinds of transport from classic and sports cars to tractors and lorries.

The event was organised by former Gleed School assistant headteacher Anthony Grunwell, who said: “The event went brilliantly, as always.

“Everyone made such an effort and they looked great.

“They all had a really good night.”

Entertainment on the evening was a disco provided by local band Zebra.

  1. the original idea of the prom seems to have disappeared. everyone just wants to out-do others with their dresses, mode of transport, hair, etc. I have heard that some parents spend over £500 on this – just ridiculous. It’s all for show. I am not being a killjoy – I have had a child go to this prom, and would not let her spend that amount of money.
