Money off for birthday month

A Spalding charity bookshop is offering special discounts to celebrate its 15th birthday.

This December, the Sue Ryder charity bookshop in Spalding will be 15 years old, having opened its doors in the week just before Christmas 2004.

The shop staff are inviting people to help them celebrate this milestone by offering a 15 per cent discount when customers spend £5 or more on donated items until December 31 (offer excludes sales of Christmas cards and lottery tickets).

Bookshop manager, Paul Redford said: “The Sue Ryder Bookshop, located on the corner of Priory Road and the Crescent, which raises much-needed funds for the Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough, still holds the unique distinction of being the only dedicated bookshop within Sue Ryder’s national chain of over 450 stores spread throughout the UK.

“After its successful launch in 2004 it rapidly found the need to expand in 2008 in order to accommodate the extraordinary volumes of fabulous books which are donated each week by our generous donors.

“So if you’re looking for ideas for stocking-fillers this Christmas or an unusual gift for that person who seems to have everything, why not pop in and take advantage of our incredible range of esoteric ephemera and bargain books?”

In March, the shop will celebrate another anniversary.

Mr Redford explained: “Next year we will also be celebrating another milestone on March 3 when Sue Ryder will have been trading on the same Priory Road premises continuously for the last 45 years!”
