Moulton Harrox produced their best performance of the South Lincs and Border League Division One season so far on Saturday as they defeated leaders Market Deeping 2nd at Broad Lane.
Having won the toss, Harrox were bowled out for 160 in 41.3 overs – but hit back to dramatically dismiss Deeping for 156.
Mike Kearns Snr (32) and Chris Beale put on 55 for the first Harrox wicket, while there were good knocks from Matt Barnett (26) and Jack Barnett (21) too.
Also scoring nicely down the order were Simon Juckes (16) and Ansar Hussain (17), but strong bowling performances from Nick Andrews (4-49), Karl Green (2-38), Richard Witt (1-11) and Joe Pearson (1-25) saw Harrox’s innings ended prematurely.
Ross Barnes (62) was a shining light in Deeping’s reply, but Moulton managed to take wickets around him at regular intervals.
Skipper Juckes (3-27) led the way with the ball, while Louis Greetham (2-24), Hussain (2-26) and Jack Barnett (2-28) all bagged two wickets apiece.
Alex Baker (1-22) also claimed a key wicket to help Harrox to an impressive 18 points on the day.
Also in Division One, Spalding Town 2nd defeated rivals Pinchbeck by three wickets in a close derby clash at the Memorial Field.
Batting first, Harry Wilkinson-Roberts scored a super 65 for Pinchbeck as they posted what they probably thought would be a match-winning total of 202 all out. However, an unbeaten 59 from Matt Gill steered Spalding to 203-7 in reply to secure them an impressive derby success.
Those results leave Spalding fourth, three points ahead of fifth-placed Moulton while Pinchbeck are in the bottom three.
Up in the Premier Division, Long Sutton suffered a 69-run loss against second-placed Bourne 2nd at Paradise Field.
Robert Dunn’s 85 steered Bourne to 252-8 batting first, with Dan Oldfield (3-57) and Beau Newman (2-42) were Sutton’s best bowlers.
In reply, Barry Stanway (32 not out) and Phil Barnes (31) fared well but Sutton were all out for 183 in the 42nd over.
