South Holland women braving the shave for a great cause

Two South Holland women won’t be feeling the heat as they brave the shave for a cancer charity.

Georgina Harrison lightening the load after being successfully treated for a life-threatening tumour.

She was diagnosed after a routine eye test at Spalding’s Molsom and Associates resulted in an immediate  referral to the Royal Eye Hospital in Boston.

Unbeknown to her, she had a tumour pushing on her retina and had ocular melanoma, a rare type of cancer.

The former nurse had proton beam treatment in Liverpool and had several rounds of treatment before specialists were happy the tumour had gone. She is now taking up a role with the ambulance service.

Georgina and her friend, Jennie Thomas, who recently underwent a series of tests following a cancer scare, will both be braving the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support. They both brave the shave on August 18 and are hoping to raise £500 each.

Jennie underwent a round of tests which gave her the all-clear after initial cancer fears. They both have fundraising pages on the website bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk where people can sponsor them.
