PDFL round-up: Moulton Harrox Reserves finally lose unbeaten league record

After going 24 games unbeaten in ChromaSport PDFL Division One, Moulton Harrox Reserves finally lost on Saturday.

Peterborough Polonia were the team to finally take Kev Nottingham’s table-toppers down, winning 3-2 at Broad Lane in a real thriller.

Top scorer Declan Earth and defender Chris Hall netted for Harrox, but Karol Cieslak (28) and Adrian Mizia (71 & 80) struck to hand the hosts a temporary setback in their bid to clinch the title.

Harrox defender Bobby Patterson said: “The loss is a massive disapointment to everyone. We’ll take it on the chin, we have a very experienced squad and will show character and a togetherness to finish the job.”

Also beaten in Division One were second-placed Sutton Bridge United, who went down 3-1 at Stamford Belvedere despite Kurt Scott’s strike.

It was a good day for Spalding United Reserves, though. The basement boys beat Baston 5-1 thanks to strikes from Aidan Doherty (2), Rafal Marczewski (2) and Hristos Dokov.

Up in the Premier Division, Crowland Town moved off the foot of the table with a 3-2 home victory over Wisbech Town Reserves.

Connah Hunt helped himself to a double, with Michael Uff also on the mark at Snowden Field.

However, a Jack Smith strike couldn’t stop Holbeach United Reserves going down 5-1 at Netherton United.

Chris Page’s side are 12th in the standings after the reverse.

Down in Division Four, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves battled to a 1-0 derby victory over promotion-chasing Holbeach Bank.

Vincent Mackie’s second-half strike clinched the points for Sutton’s second string at London Road.

In the same division, Tydd St Mary Reserves were handed a 3-1 home humbling by Stamford Lions A.

Dexter Facey struck a second-half consolation for the Saints, who had trailed 3-0 at half-time.

The score was also 3-1 at Bushfield Sports Centre, where hosts Orton Rangers saw off Holbeach United A in Division Five A.
