The Voice of Spalding and South Holland
Raising funds for a community project, taking a ride in a different form of transport and meeting someone who works for the community were three of the challenges taken on by the 1st Spalding Beavers following the recent changes to the badges and awards they can earn.
They held a sponsored silence and raised £300, which they then took to Johnson Community Hospital by taxis supplied by Brian’s Taxi and LA Taxis.
They handed £150 to the hospital’s Minor Injury Unit to go towards a new saw to cut off child size plaster casts.
They then made their way up to the Welland Ward where they presented a variety of jigsaws, balls, games, drawing and painting equipment for use by the occupational therapist with the patients.
The beavers then entertained the ward’s patients and staff with some campfire songs before demonstrating how to use the various pieces of equipment and interacting with the patients.
