The Voice of Spalding and South Holland
On a lovely sunny day my wife and I decided to take a jaunt over to Stamford for a little shopping and change of scenery.
To our surprise we were confronted with a very large and bustling market place.
Everyone was being very respectful and adhering to social distancing even though it was very busy.
On closer inspection it was clear to see that the stalls were all of the same construction and were clearly supplied by the local council.
So my question to SHDC and Coun Gambba-Jones in particular: how can Stamford run a very successful market and we can’t?
Before you answer this please don’t make the feeble excuse about your employees socially distancing, as I see your refuse collection teams two or three abreast in their lorries each and every week. So this excuse cannot be used for not putting up the market stalls!
Maybe if our council was to spend less time and effort on out of town Springfields and what they want to achieve i.e planning permission for another 18 extra outlets, and a bit more on the health and wellbeing of our ever decaying town centre!
Lest we forget, Spalding is a market town. Healthy market, healthy town.
