Top two were too strong for Knights

Pinchbeck United’s double against the top two in the UhlSport United Counties League Premier Division yielded no points or even goals, but some decent performances.
After the Knights were beaten 3-0 at home by second placed Anstey Nomads last midweek, they visited top of the table Loughborough Students on Sunday.
They were able to keep it tight in the first half and went in at half time goalless.
Loughborough have only lost once in the league this season and thrashed Deeping Rangers 11-0 in midweek but had to wait until the 64th minute for Finlay Brennan to break the deadlock.
With just eight minutes remaining Avi Viera thought he’d bagged Pinchbeck a point only to see his effort at the back post cannon off the underside of the bar.
And Loughborough sealed the win four minutes later, Ant Lynn capitalising on the fortunate rebound after the home side had themselves hit the post.
Before that, Pinchbeck not only lost to Anstey Nomads, they lost forward Spencer Weir Daley to them.
He’s joined the Nomads’ push as they look to hunt down league leaders Loughborough Students and scored a hat-trick as Anstey won 8-0 at Leicester Nomads on Tuesday night.
This Saturday, 16th placed Pinchbeck host 17th placed Eastwood at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.

Knights v Loughborough: Smith, Stevens, Millar, Dilley, Sheriff, Jaine, Melson, Burdass, Williams, Stevens, Foster. Subs: Vieira, Henderson, Turunen.
