Terry is granted the Freedom of the Parish

Holbeach Parish Council stalwart Terry Harrington has been honoured for 36 years’ service.

Mr Harrington stepped down in May and his fellow councillors felt they couldn’t let the occasion pass without marking it.

So to commemorate his outstanding service parish clerk Chris Seymour came up with the idea of awarding Mr Harrington the “freedom of the parish”.

After some research, Mr Seymour found out the council could grant the title, on the condition that it was a parish council meeting agenda item and that all councillors voted in favour of granting it, which they did.

Mr Harrington was presented with the freedom of the parish, along with some garden gift vouchers paid for through a collection from existing staff and councillors, at a special get-together.

Vouchers were also presented to Peter Savory and Jenny Worth, who both stood down at the May elections.
