Talk in Spalding by leading poet and musician Benjamin Zephaniah

Poet, musician, novelist, and actor Benjamin Zephaniah heads the new calendar of Spalding Gentlemen’s Society talks and lectures.

The Life and Rhymes of Benjamin Zephaniah is on Friday, September 25 at 8pm at Spalding Grammar School.

The society said: “This is a lecture like no other. Benjamin will talk about his life from the streets of Birmingham, to a life of crime, and to becoming Britain’s most popular living poet.
“This promises to be a lively, passionate talk, which might involve a little poetry.”

Other lectures include one on the Magna Carta as part of the national celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the document by King John, a look at weapons from the society’s collection with Antiques Roadshow expert Bill Harriman, and Christine Hallett from Manchester University giving a lecture on Edith Cavell.
