Supermarket helps Spalding school allotments

Primary school pupils helped celebrate the opening of Spalding’s newly extended Aldi store by attending the opening ceremony to receive a donation to support the school’s allotments.

Aldi store manager Hayley Rowson said: “The team here at Spalding thoroughly enjoyed welcoming the community back into our newly extended store; it was great to see familiar faces, and some new ones.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to St John’s Primary for helping to reopen the store, and we hope the pupils enjoy the gardening supplies for their allotment.”

An Aldi spokesperson said they hope the school’s allotments will encourage healthy eating by letting children grow their vegetables and then cook in the school kitchen.

Aldi donated tools and cooking materials to the Spalding school.
