Success for Oh My Cod

Oh My Cod in Spalding has been named as one of the UK’s Ten Best Mobile Fish & Chip Operators for 2019/20.

The accolade follows an extensive search by leading trade publication Fry Magazine to find those mobile sellers serving up the finest fish suppers.

To make the Ten Best, Oh My Cod had to impress a mystery diner who visited unannounced and marked the van on over 40 aspects of their business from the quality of the food and customer service to cleanliness and value for money.

With the pass mark set at 89 per cent, Oh My Cod scored an impressive 99 per cent with the mystery diner particularly praising the quality and taste of the fish along with the very friendly staff.

Bill Rai, owner of Oh My Cod, said: “It’s a massive honour to named one of the top ten mobile caterers in the UK.

“Me and my son go out on the van every week and It’s great to see that all our hard work was appreciated.”

Reece Head, competition organiser, said: “The mobile food market, like all parts of the eating out market, has been hit hard by the current coronavirus crisis, so it’s with great pleasure that we bring some positive news at this difficult time.

“Effectively providing a shop on wheels to communities, festivals and events, mobile fish and chip operators are playing an increasing part in getting our nation’s favourite dish to more customers, more of the time.

“Our Ten Best mobilers operate to the very highest standards in terms of hygiene and food safety, which is helping to raise the image of food-on-the go, while the food they are serving is of the same consistency and high quality that you would expect from any good fish and chip takeaway.

“We congratulate all our winners and we will be looking out for them as they hit the roads later this year when things return to normal!”
