A young, starving dog has been found abandoned and tied up under a Spalding bridge.

The bitch, thought to be about 18 months old, was discovered by a member of the public at the Coronation Channel on Tuesday.

The ribs of the undernourished dog – named Star by those now looking after her – are clearly visible.

South Holland District Council dog warden Rachel Thompson has launched an appeal for information on the person responsible.

Rachel was so upset that she had found it hard to write the Facebook post about the find.

She wrote: “Even though I would forgive her if she did not like humans Star could not be any more loving.

“She has spent the night at the vet’s so she can get the best care.

“If anyone knows where this lovely lady has come from please let me know. The person who did this needs to be found.”

Any information can be reported to the dog warden on 01775 761161.
