Spalding win Rotary Games

Gateway Clubs from Spalding and Boston took part in the first Rotary Games since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teams of people with learning disabilities were challenged in walking races, standing long jump and shot put.
Indoor contests included new age kurling, boccia and skittles.
Spalding were the winners after the games were abandoned due to torrential rain.
The Rotary Games have traditionally been held annually but, due to the pandemic and the closure of Gateway Clubs across the county, it had not been possible to hold them.
The games this year marked the ‘milestone of the games’ and was held at the Castle Sports Complex, Spalding.
Gateway Clubs are for those with learning disabilities and offer a safe environment to socialise, play games and enjoy themselves.
The Spalding club meets at Broad Street Church Hall on Fridays between 7pm and 9pm.
Spalding was represented by Andrew, Eleanor, Jocelyn, Jonathan, Michale, Oliver, Phoebe and Trudy.
Assistants were Bpbby, Carol, two Davids, Helen, Julie, Lou, Sue, Tim, Wendy and Zoe.
