Spalding United soundly beaten at Chasetown as Holbeach United held

Spalding United slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Chasetown in Evo-Stik League First Division South on Saturday, while Holbeach United drew 0-0 at Peterborough Northern Star in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division.

Starting with the Tulips, boss Pat Rayment handed a debut to keeper Michael Emery – signed on an emergency loan deal with both Michael Duggan and Jordan McCready unavailable.

He was unable to do anything about Ryan Wynter’s first-half opener for Chasetown.

James Dance then doubled the home lead in the second period, before Spalding pulled one back through Josh Moreman on the hour.

There was to be no comeback, though, as Chasetown’s Nicky Turton grabbed a third soon after.

The loss is only Spalding’s second of the campaign in the league and leaves them eighth in the table.

Meanwhile, Holbeach drew a blank on at The Branch Bros Stadium in boss Darren Jarvis’ first return to his former club.

Josh Ford hit the post in a goalless first period, while after the break Tommy Treacher sent the Tigers’ best chance wide.

In the end, they were left thankful to keeper Ricky Drury, who pulled off a great late save to ensure the spoils were shared. The draw ensures Holbeach remain unbeaten in the league since the opening day of the season.

In the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox made it ten wins from as many Premier Division matches with a 7-0 success at Crowland Town. They stay top.

Holbeach United Reserves are still third after they cruised to an 8-1 home win over Deeping Rangers Reserves. Jack Smith led the way with a hat-trick, while Keiron Rose (2), Rob Lewsley (2) and Paul Newcombe also notched.

Behind them, Pinchbeck United are now fourth after they continued their winning ways with a 2-0 triumph at Langtoft United.

In Division One, Long Sutton Athletic were 4-1 winners over Langtoft Reserves at home, while Spalding United Reserves romped to a 7-0 success over ICA Sports Reserves at the Sir Halley.

Sutton Bridge United also picked up a win as they saw off hosts Warboys Town 3-1, while Moulton Harrox Reserves beat Netherton Reserves 4-2.
