Patients at the closing Spalding GP Surgery are to be registered with Gosberton Medical Centre, it’s been announced.
However, they’re being told to continue to attend appointments at its current Johnson Hospital base for now.
In a Frequently Asked Questions factsheet sent to patient it says: “Gosberton Medical Centre have made a commitment to continue providing services from Johnson Community Hospital. Further details of this will be provided in due course.”
It continues: “Having had detailed discussions with Gosberton Medical Centre, they have really
impressed us with their approach to delivering patient care.
“They have provided assurances on their capacity to deliver services to the additional patients.
“They have committed to employing staff who currently work at Spalding GP Surgery, as well as committing to providing services from Johnson Community Hospital.”
Over 3,000 patients have been based at the Spalding GP Surgery at Johnson Hospital after it was set up following the loss of Pennygate Surgery in 2018.
However in July it was revealed that the hospital would no longer host the Spalding Surgery.
Today, Friday, November 4, it was confirmed their registration would be transferred to Gosberton.
An NHS spokesman said: “Health bosses have today confirmed that patients registered at Spalding GP Surgery will be transferred over to Gosberton Medical Centre.
“NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), the NHS body responsible for arranging for the provision of health services in the county, made the announcement following the conclusion of a robust process to identity a GP surgery for patients to be transferred to.
“Gosberton Medical Centre are keen to develop plans with the ICB, including delivering
services at Johnson Community Hospital.
“The ICB would like to reassure all patients that they shouldn’t experience any disruption and they should continue to access services at Spalding GP Surgery until informed otherwise.
“Further details are being developed, and Spalding GP Surgery patients will receive letters to formally confirm the changes.”
