Spalding Academy students shine

Students at Spalding Academy School are celebrating after some excellent GCSE results.

The school says that the results show improvement for the third year in a row and students continue to be above the national average.

On the new vocational BTEC programme they enjoyed a 100 per cent pass rate.

Top performers included Julija Bindzaite, Matthew Walker, Katie Wiliamson and Luke Scampion, all of whom achieved grade six to nine and above in every subject studied.

Students have a host of varied career paths they want to work towards including friends Taylor Mckay, who is heading to agricultural college in Riseholme and Zala Miller who is heading to Stamford College to study Animal Care.

She wan’ts to go into something involving conservation or primatology (the study of apes).

“I’ve always liked animals and I’m particularly interested in apes and monkies,” Zala said.

Dylan Taylor produced a fine performance to get a host of good grades. The goalkeeper is on the books of Peterborough United and played for their U18s side yesterday against Brighton.

Alongside his football he’s taken on scholarship with Posh.

Executive Headteacher Lucy Conley said: “Congratulations to the class of 2019 in securing another set of outstanding results. I am extremely proud of what our students have achieved, the results are a testament of their determination, hard work and commitment, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff for their ongoing dedication to our students’ achievements.

“Amidst all the headlines about new specifications and exam reform, there are some things that never change, such as excellent teaching and exam preparation combined with terrific effort from our students and our parents.

“Once again they are leaving us with the world at their feet, not only with the great results they deserve, but also with the broader skills, attributes and attitudes that come from being part of our school community.

“We wish them all the very best for the future.”
