South Holland youngsters impress at latest round of Boston Junior Sportshall Athletics Series

The fifth of six Boston 2021/22 Junior Sportshall Athletics Series meets was held last Friday – and a host of South Holland athletes were in attendance.

At under-15 level, Hayden Quantrill won seven of the nine events in the age category.

He recorded 31.4secs for three laps, 47.4secs in the four laps and 73.9secs for six laps, while also clearing 2.12m in the standing long jump, 6.48m in the standing triple jump and 7.03m in the shot.

In the under-13 section, Issy Reid achieved clear victories in the standing long jump with a leap of 1.70m, the 2.72k shot with a distance of 5.67m and the 30-second speed bounce with a total count of 54.

She also recorded improved times in the running events.

In the under-11 boys’ age group, Devan Quantrill finished first in five of the nine individual events.

That included all three track races, as he recorded 34.7secs, 50.3secs and 85.4secs for the three, four and six-lap competitions.He also won the chest push (3.50m) and the speed bounce with a 20-second count of 73.

In the same age category, Noah Donnelly-Coles was first in the standing triple jump with 4.50m.

He also produced runners-up performances in all three running events, with times of 38.4secs (three laps), 57.8secs (four laps) and 95.8secs (six laps), the vertical jump (33cm) and the standing long jump (1.60m).

In the youngest age group for under-7 boys and girls, Flynn Donelly-Coles won six of the eight individual events.

He recorded 26.3secs for the two laps, 58.9secs for the four laps, achieved a height of 18cm in vertical jump and leapt 3.12m in standing triple jump. Not done there, he managed 3.00m in the 1kg chest push and also achieved 30 in the 20-second speed bounce.
