Site’s fair helps boost WI Hall

An 87-year-old community hall is getting much needed boosts thanks to a leisure park’s charity markets

The Holbeach WI Hall needs repairs including a new roof and, in a bid to raise money, Lawns and Lakes Camping and Caravan in Lowgate, Fleet held a Farmers Market and Craft Fair.

It was been hailed such a success they’re holding another on Saturday, May 20 (10am to 2pm).

Following the initial event it’s donated £150 towards fixing a water leak.

Owner Tracy Pickett wanted to help the venue as her grandmother Rose Drury used to attend the now defunct Friday Club’s sessions there.

“It gave her another lease of life,” Tracy said. “I was looking for a good cause to help out and hearing a venue so important to the community needed help made up my mind.”

WI Hall chair Stewart Bradley said: “I can’t thank Tracy and her husband Nigel enough for arranging these.”
