Sense of joy at Little Miracles

A charity’s Holbeach hub has a new sensory room after seeing over 600 people come through its doors in its first few months in operation.

Little Miracles is open for young people up to the age of 25 who may have a disability for them to build life skills and make new friends.
Joining the extensive play and games area is the new sensory room opened last week by Morrison’s Community Champion Lauren Lewis after the store donated £25,000.
As well as the usual fluorescent lights and interactions are an interactive TV and vibrating plinths which make it into a kind of 4D cinema.
“We’ve already had Toy Story on it and you could feel everything,” said Elizabeth Batterham who oversees the project and the team of eight volunteers. “We’ve had a great response to the new room.
“Everyone who has seen it is really impressed.”
Elizabeth was named a Coronation Champion recently and she says that award has helped even more people become aware of the work Little Miracles do.
“It’s about supporting the families that need it and letting them know they’re not alone.
“It’s about educating the young people in fun ways, getting families interacting each other and signposting them to services to help them out on their journey.
“We also put on a host of events and trips and look to make it as affordable as possible.”
As part of the fundraising Little Miracles is holding a Family Fun Day on August 12, from 11am to 3pm at the Fun Farm field at Weston.
