Saturday round-up: Spalding United up to sixth, nice and three-sy for Pinchbeck United

Spalding United recorded a rare away win as they beat Romulus 2-1 to climb up to sixth in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South on Saturday, while Pinchbeck United strengthened their grip on second place in ChromaSport UCL Division One with a 3-0 victory over Lutterworth Athletic.

Starting with the Tulips, another strike from the in-form Jamie Jackson and an own goal helped Chris Rawlinson’s side dodge a potential banana skin at basement boys Romulus.

What was only a second away success of the season moves the Tulips onto 23 points, which is the same as third-placed Frickley Athletic and just five shy of second-placed Cleethorpes Town.

Elsewhere, a first-half double from Josh Smith helped Pinchbeck complete the double over title rivals Lutterworth Athletic at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Ollie Maltby added a third goal on the hour to give Ian Dunn’s in-form side an eighth win of the season, which keeps them one point behind leaders Raunds Town.

Spencer Tinkler scored as Holbeach United marched on in the FA Vase with a 1-0 win over South Normaton Athletic. Read the report here.

Down in the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox were 5-2 winners at Leverington Sports to stay unbeaten and top of the Premier Division.

A double from Dan Woods, an own goal and strikes from Dan Lambe-Hyner and Ian Bradbury got the job done for Nigel Steadman’s side – who are four clear at the top.

Meanwhile, Jonny Allen notched a hat-trick as Holbeach United Reserves battered hosts Langtoft United 5-0.  Steve Barnes and Josh Lawrence also notched for Phil Barnes’ side.

The other top tier clash saw Sutton Bridge United draw 4-4 at Deeping Rangers Reserves.

In Division One, Tydd St Mary were 3-1 winners at Netherton United Reserves but Crowland Town went down 8-2 at Peterborough Polonia.

Spalding Town walloped Langtoft Reserves 6-0 in Division Two, while Spalding United Reserves slumped to a 2-1 home reverse against Bretton North End.

Whaplode Drove got back to winning ways with a 4-0 triumph over Stamford Belevedere Reserves in Division Three.

But South Holland rivals Holbeach Bank were tonked 7-3 on their own patch by Oundle Reserves.

Division Four served up home defeats for both Holbeach United A and Tydd St Mary Reserves. The Tigers lost 4-2 against Whittlesey Athletic B, while the Saints went down 2-1 to Stanground Sports A.

All of the results from the Evo-Stik NPL First Divsion South, UCL Premier and Division One and the PDFL will be added tomorrow.
