Saturday football: Tulips snatch great point, Tigers and Pinchbeck hammered, big Moulton Harrox win

A late Ryan Flitton strike earned Spalding United a fine 2-2 draw at high-flying Chasetown on Saturday, while Holbeach United and Pinchbeck United were on the receiving end of heavy defeats.

Starting with the Tulips, they rescued a great point at Pitching In NPL Midlands Division title hopefuls Chasetown in dramatic style.

After a goalless first period, Scott Floyd put Spalding – still under the caretaker charge of Bruno Porfirio – 1-0 up on the hour at The Scholars Ground.

But two quick-fire strikes turned the game on its head as Chasetown moved 2-1 ahead thanks to Jack Langston (74) and Nehemia Zazi (77).

However, Spalding dug deep and sub Flitton levelled in added time to stretch their unbeaten run under Porfirio to three games.

Down in the Uhlsport UCL, it was another day to forget for the South Holland sides.

Holbeach remain bottom and without a win after being humbled 6-0 at home by a Newark side who have relegation fears of their own.

Daniel Meadows (9, 42 and 56), Shaun Harrad (48), Mason Rowley (52) and Nathan Kelly (88) all scored to extend the Tigers’ winless start to the league season to 16 games, leaving them eight points from safety.

Pinchbeck, meanwhile, went down 5-0 at home to an Anstey Nomads side that are one of the title favourites.

Jordan Annable (37) gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, before a 14-minute hat-trick from Corey Armeni (60, 70 and 74) and a Connor Brown-Wingfield strike (80) added gloss to the scoreline.

The Knights remain in the bottom two, but are just a point from safety.

Elsewhere, two second-half strikes gave Moulton Harrox a huge 2-0 win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway in the Lincs FA Junior Cup.

Billed as their game of the season, Ian Bradbury and Josh McGuire sent Harrox through against perhaps their biggest rivals for the county crown.
