Saturday football: Marske draw edges Tulips closer to safety, five-star Tigers win and Pinchbeck hold new champions Daventry

Spalding United edged closer to safety in Evo-Stik NPL East Division with a fine 1-1 draw at Marske United on Saturday, while Pinchbeck United drew 1-1 with Daventry Town and Holbeach United returned to winning ways with a 5-0 victory at Kirby Muxloe.

Starting with the Tulips, they fell 1-0 down just before the break when Curtis Round netted for hosts Marske.

The game changed early in the second period when the home side had xx Butterworth sent off.

That gave the Tulips fresh impetus and they duly levelled through Neal Spafford soon after.

The point moves Spalding three points clear of the bottom two with two games left to play – and they are now five points clear of rock-bottom Gresley.

Meanwhile, Daventry were crowned champions of the Future Lions UCL Premier Division at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field – but Pinchbeck didn’t let them seal it with a victory.

The visitors went ahead in the first half through Luke Emery, but Alex Beck levelled for the Knights in the opening seconds of the second half.

The point sees the Knights five points clear in fourth place with two games left to play.

Holbeach, who host Pinchbeck on Monday (3pm), are their nearest challengers after their rout of Kirby Muxloe at Ratby Lane.
