Moulton Harrox’s bid for a top three finish in the South Lincs and Border League is back on after an impressive six-wicket success over current incumbents Lindum 2nd at Broad Lane on Saturday.

Having suffered a shock loss to basement boys Welby last week, Harrox were back to full strength – and it was no surprise when skipper Chris Beale won the toss and elected to bowl.

Third-placed Lindum lost early wickets as Henry Lavery (1-20) and Matthew Barnett (1-30) each snaring one apiece.

Spinners Maxwell Cusack (3-33) and Jack Barnett (3-50), before Harrox welcomed the return off veteran Jonny Barnett (1-13) – who snared the final wicket finish Lindum off for an under par but competitive 160.

Opener Matthew Pickering (44) top scored for the visitors.

Moulton got off to the dream start in their reply, with the score racing on 46-0 off just ten overs.

Both openers looked good before an unfortunate run-out accounted for Jack Cusack (34).

Fellow opener Matthew Barnett grafted through until he was caught for a hard-fought 49, while number three Joe Broomfield hit a quick-fire 21.

The ever-reliable Jack Barnett also chipped in with a determined 17 not out, but it was club legend Karl Hibbert (5) who once again hit the winning runs with a brutal slog sweep for four.

The win leaves Harrox fifth ahead of Saturday’s trip to Woodhall Spa 2nd (1.30pm).
