Reith-Hurd fires five as breathtaking Blues hit ten

Spalding United Blue under-15s showed exactly what they are capable of as they smashed Glinton and Northborough under-15s 10-0.

The Blues were in top gear from the off and went ahead when Wills Reith-Hurd found space to fire home from the edge of the box. Sam East then found Reith-Hurd with a perfect pass to allow him to bury number two.

The lively Reith-Hurd turned provider from the next goal as his cross was nodded home by East, but soon notched his hat-trick goal after a kicking error from the keeper.

Jake Hollis then knocked in a rebound to make it 5-0, before East rifled his second into the top corner following a looped Rob Taylor pass.

The relentless Spalding pressure continued after the interval as Keegan Waters dinked number seven over the advancing keeper.

Prolific striker Reith-Hurd – who was starting in attack for the first time – added his fourth following another East assist, before a sublime Jamie Reeves finish made it 9-0. That set the stage for Reith-Hurd to bring up double figures with a ferocious low strike.

  • Table toppers March Soccer School under-15s handed Spalding United Orange under-15s a 3-1 reverse at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

March went ahead from a corner, only for Ollie Green to bury a leveller.

That’s how it stayed up until the second half, with two further strikes – one of them a penalty – sealing the Tulips’ fate.

  • Spalding United under-13s moved five points clear at the top of the table with a thrilling 5-3 victory over Thorney Colts under-13s.

Charlie Beecham crossed for Jamie Mills to fire the young Tulips ahead, only for Thorney to hit straight back with a wind-assisted effort.

Spalding were soon back ahead though as Mills turned provider with a neat ball over the top for Sam Bayly to finish.

Bayly got his second minutes later when he finished off another expert pass from Mills.

Beecham, who caused endless problems down the right wing, then delivered for Bayly to nod home his hat-trick goal.

Not done there, Beecham completed an assist treble when his cross cannoned in off a defender.

The second half was Thorney’s and they pulled two back, but Spalding were never really in danger of dropping points.

  • Five-star Spalding United under-12s roared to an impressive 5-0 victory over Parkside under-12s.

After a frantic start that saw the young Tulips pepper the Parkside goal, Tommy Frogley’s low drive eventually gave them a 28th-minute lead.

Frogley was then fouled within the penalty area, but keeper Callum Haynes saw his spot-kick saved by his opposite number.

It mattered little, though, as Jacob Drew increased the lead with another low strike and Frogley bagged his second for 3-0.

Dylan Evans, who was unlucky not to score a few more, saw his patience finally pay off when he rifled number four into the roof of the net, before Drew rounded off the rout with his second of the day.

  • Although going down 6-3 to Hampton Royal under-11s, Spalding United under-11s produced a fine passing display.

Two quickfire goals in the second and eighth minutes by Jack Doubleday had given Spalding a 2-0 lead, but Hampton hit back to make it 2-2 by half time.

The young Tulips then fell 3-2 down, only for William Smith to keep his cool and level moments later.

Despite a few excellent saves from Jade Lilley, Spalding shipped three more goals after running out of steam late on.

  • Holbeach United under-14s were left disappointed after losing a cup game at Glinton under-14s 5-4 on penalties after extra time.

Liam Sandall scored directly from a corner to put the Tigers on level terms after falling behind early on. Despite a spell of sustained pressure they then slipped 2-1 down.

But the Tigers struck two unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead when Liam Scales and Jordan Olive both finishing well from corners.

A later leveller forced the tie in extra time, but Scales soon restored the Tigers’ lead with a header.

Another late leveller forced penalties at 4-4 – and although Holbeach went 3-1 ahead, they were eventually beaten 5-4 in the shoot-out.
