Points for G&S Racing Kawasaki riders at Donington Park

The three G&S Racing Kawasaki riders contested round three of the Pirelli National Superstock championship and the Pirelli Junior Superstock series at Donington Park.

Kevin Keyes and Zak Fuller both completed their race in the points for the Wyberton-based team and Jorel Boerboom enjoyed two races in his championship.

After qualifying in 13th position, Keyes set off from the middle of the fourth row and was running in tenth place when the race was halted because of a crash further down the field.

At the restart the race was reduced in distance to 16 laps and Keyes again got a good start and settled into ninth position.

He briefly moved up to eighth, but was beaten back to ninth and entered into a battle for position with Finley Arscott.

However, the red flag brought the race to an early end on lap 12 and Keyes had to be satisfied with tenth place and six championship points.

Fuller, who hails from New Zealand, is at a disadvantage as he has to learn each circuit before he is able to post some quick laps.

But he is a quick learner and, after qualifying for a fifth row start, he was running in 13th place before the first red flag.

At the restart he was unfortunate to get a bad start and found himself down in 18th position on the first lap.

But he got his head down and picked off the riders ahead to get up to 14th position on lap eight.

Fuller then became embroiled in a fierce battle for position within a group of five riders all challenging for 12th place.

As the race unfolded he made his way through the group until he reached 12th place and was looking to move further up the field when the red flag halted his progress, so he was awarded 12th place and four championship points.

In the senior class Boerboom, who is from the Netherlands is still getting to grips with the big Kawasaki and is making good progress, improving his lap times with every outing.

In this round he had two races to contest and the Dutchman qualified for a 12th row start for race one.

But the race was red flagged and at the restart an eight-lap dash ensued, resulting in him finishing in 27th place.

In the second race he started from row ten and finished the 20-lap affair in 29th position.
G&S team manager Tom Fisher said: “On the whole I am pleased with the way the weekend went.

“In the junior class we found a good set up and now just need to find the extra little bit more to be able to run nearer the front of the field.

“Kevin recorded a personal best lap time which was pleasing and Zak is gaining his confidence after his crash last time out.

“He found it difficult to find a smooth line around the Donington National circuit but his times were competitive and it was a good learning curve which will help him throughout the season.

“Jorel also rode well. His lap times were good and his race results do not reflect his performance.

“He did suffer with arm pump which hindered him towards the end of race two but he made some good steps forward this weekend and I am very pleased with him.”

The next round is at Knockhill on June 18 and 19.
