PDFL round-up: Sutton Bridge suffer shock defeat, Holbeach Reserves held to a draw

Sutton Bridge United’s ChromaSport PDFL Division Four title hopes suffered a big blow on Saturday as the high-fliers lost 3-2 against rock-bottom Orton Rangers Reserves.

The South Holland side have been top of the table for much of the season, but became the first side to be beaten by Orton this campaign.

Goals from Joe Sutton and Rian Lakey weren’t enough for Bridge at Memorial Park, as they fell to third in the table.

Up in the Premier Division, Holbeach United Reserves had to settle for a draw against strugglers Stamford Lions.

Trailing 2-1 at the break despite a Jordan Keeble strike, Josh Ling earned the Tigers a draw and keeps them third in the table.

That result sent Long Sutton Athletic to the bottom after they lost 2-0 at home to Wittering Premiair.

Fellow top tier side Crowland Town, meanwhile, exited the Lincs FA Junior Cup 2-0 at Deeping Reserves.

In the same competition, Tydd crashed out 3-2 at home to North Somercotes United after extra time. Matt Cousins and Timmy Magnus were the Tydd scorers in a tight tussle.

Likewise, Crowland Reserves are out after a hefty 9-2 home reverse against Pointon. Lee Turner and Andrei Rupa netted for the beaten hosts in the first half.

However, goals from David Cisay-Rule, Joe Cottingham and Rowan Woodward helped Pinchbeck Reserves beat Cleethorpes A A 3-2 to progress.

Back in Division Two, Holbeach United Sports went down 3-1 at leaders Netherton United Reserves. Ben Mansour got their goal.

It was a similar tale for Tydd Reserves in Division Three, as they were beaten 3-1 at Wittering Premiair A.

The two South Holland sides clashed in Division Five – and it was Pinchbeck United A who got the better of hosts

Holbeach Bank 4-1. Brandon Harker, Ryan Stanberry (2) and Leandro Manuel Silva Borges netted for the Knights, with Edward Sakovich on target for Bank.
