PDFL round-up: Sandall’s top treble sinks Long Sutton in Shield derby as Harrox progress

A hat-trick from Martin Sandall fired Moulton Harrox to a 4-2 victory at South Holland rivals Long Sutton Athletic on Saturday.

Striker Sandall bagged a first-have brace to give Harrox a 2-0 half-time in the Chairman Championship Shield clash at London Road, before completing his treble after the break.

Jack Wycherley then got in on the act for a Harrox side that included first-teamers Marcus Parry and Ainsley Johnson, before Billy Oliver and an own goal gave the Magpies two consolation strikes.

The victory propels ChromaSport PDFL Division One leaders into the last four, alongside Tydd St Mary, Wittering Harriers and Ramsey Town.

Elsewhere, Holbeach United Reserves progressed in the President Premier Shield after beating Sawtry 3-0 on penalties. Jordan Keeble’s goal forced spot-kicks, with Tigers keeper Ant Murphy emerging as the hero with a trio of saves.

It wasn’t such a good day for Spalding Town, though, as they went out of the Intermediate Shield 2-0 at FC Parson Drove.

In Division One, Crowland Town were 2-0 winners at Netherton United Reserves, while Holbeach Bank drew 3-3 at Thorpe Wood in Division Three.

George Leatherland, Lewis Machin and Sam Thompson netted for Bank.
