Patterson hopes Moulton Harrox are primed to hit top form on their home return

Upbeat assistant boss Bobby Patterson wants to see Moulton Harrox deliver a dominant display on their return to Broad Lane this weekend.

Harrox made it back-to-back victories in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division on Saturday when they came from behind to beat hosts Cardea 3-2.

Goals from Joe Townsend, Jonny Clay and Andy Law got the job done for Moulton in a game at Leading Drove that was dogged by the wind.

Thomas Klinkovics put the hosts ahead, but Townsend levelled things up before the break.

Sub Law then came on and changed the game, first setting up Clay for number two before drilling home a third that should have killed Cardea off.

However, Daniel Baldwin pulled one back five minutes from time, setting up a tense finale for Kev Nottingham’s Harrox.

Although the result went their way, Patterson admits that the performance wasn’t quite up to scratch.

But he’s hoping that this Saturday’s home clash with Stamford Lions (2pm) will bring the best out of his side.

“The wind was really, really bad on Saturday,” said Patterson. “It made it a real 50/50 game.

“They had the wind in the first half and we let them get ahead after conceding an early free-kick. But Joe scored before half time and levelled things up, then Andy Law came on and made a massive difference.

“He set up Jonny Clay for the second, then drilled one in to put us 3-1 up.

“He made a massive difference, which was exactly what we wanted to see from Andy.

“I think we relaxed a bit too much after that and they pulled one back, which made the last few minutes a bit harder than they should have been.

“Obviously it’s all about results and we’re really happy to have won two difficult away wins on the trot, so we have to be happy. So far, we’ve just got the job done.

“On to Saturday, I think we’d like to see a really good performance.

“We’ve got about 17 really good PDFL players in the squad and they are all battling for positions, so nobody is guaranteed a start – competition is healthy.

“I don’t think we’ve played at home for about eight months, so it’d be nice if we had a good crowd and put in a strong performance.”
