New Little Miracles group in Spalding offering valuable support

A charity which supports families that have children with disabilities, life-limiting conditions or any additional needs now has a group in Spalding.

Little Miracles – based in Peterborough – had a good turnout at its first meeting at The Castle Sports Complex.

Now it is hoped that local businesses might be willing to help the support network with a contribution towards its running costs.

Parent/volunteer Amanda Band, whose seven-year-old daughter Mia attends, said Little Miracles is proving to be a valuable asset.
“We have things like a bouncy castle and crafts for children,” she said.
“It’s also an opportunity for parents to meet others in a similar situation.

“We’ve been trying to start a group in Spalding for a little while and it seems to be quite popular.
“In future we’d like to be able to offer things like day trips to places like the zoo. We want it to be like one big family and do things with each other.”

She added: “Parents can find that when they’re out and about and their child has a meltdown, it can be frowned upon. That sort of thing doesn’t happen within the group.”

The age range of the children at at the first Spalding meeting was 3-15, but the group can cater for 0-25.
It plans to meet on the final Saturday of each month (1pm-3pm), although there is not one in May. The next meeting is on Saturday, June 25.
